The last week has been eventful! Monday I went and finished off my work at Z Energy, my previous temping assignment. Tuesday, I started at the Ministry of Education!
My work there is very detail oriented and finicky, but enjoyable. As communication from the public comes into the ministry, I log it into their system and get it sent out to the appropriate person to answer it. I also send completed letters out, and log report in, and so on and so on. I'm part of the GEMs department, which stands for Government Executive Ministry which are works that don't seem to mean anything specific. However, almost all MInistry communication goes through the department, so it's massively important!
I've been getting to know Wellington! I'm really enjoying going to the markets- especially the Harbourside Market on Sunday mornings, where everything is INCREDIBLY cheap, which is a huge relief because food here is so expensive. I've also enjoyed the Night Market, where there is a lot of fun food and often music.
For the moment I'm considering staying at the hostel longer. Most people here are long term and so harder to make friends with, but I'm starting to get to know them. It's quite a nice hostel with a lot of amenities, with the main drawbacks being lack of privacy and barely any internet. It's odd-- just about everyone here is British. Everyone everywhere! But I'm happy enough to stay for now, and if I find somewhere good nearby work then I'll move in, and if not, I might stay here long term. The Dwellington is lovely, as hostels go! We shall see!
The other big news of the week is that Kara and Jordan have officially decided to head home in a week, and they will end up spending most of the summer in Seattle. I'm very happy for them, but a bit sad for myself! It's another reason to consider staying at the hostel, where I'll be likely to make good friends...
Well!
I don't know how much will happen worth updating in Wellington, but I'm guessing there'll be stuff! I do have a lot of fun plans for while I'm here, so I think I will update on the regular. Prepare.
