FIRST OFF, I BOUGHT SHOES.
Well, Kara is off in Queenstown picking up our newest addition (who is coming in a day late because he missed his LAX-->AKL flight. LAX is a nightmare airport!) I realized that these next days will be the first time in nearly four months that Kara and I haven't seen each other at least once! I'm having separation anxiety, LOL, which means that it is time to update you all on what we've been up to in Wanaka over the past few weeks. :)

We are happy to announce that a new bundle of joy will be joining us in New Zealand! Lol, it's Jordan B. He flies in to Queenstown on February 26, and I'm going to go meet him at the airport and help him set up his bank/phone/all that admin stuff that Lizzy and I did when we got into Auckland at first! I'm obviously excited to see him and have him join our adventures, and Lizzy is too! After we get everything taken care of, the three of us will set off on a journey to Fiordland and up the West Coast of the South Island!
Talk soon! Kara Our first excursion outside of Wanaka was a worthy one! Kara and I drove an hour outside of Wanaka to the start of the Rob Roy Glacier Valley Track, which is a 4 hour return track that offers a stunning view of the Rob Roy Glacier in Mt. Aspiring National Park. We were joined by friends old and new-- Martin has come to Wanaka for a few days, along with his friends from back home (who are traveling in NZ for six weeks), Hendrik and Steffie! We all piled into Hestia together (a hilarious experience because she's such a tiny car, and Hendrik is really tall), and headed out together. The road to the track, which begins at the Raspberry Creek Car Park (which is also the end of the road into Mt. Aspiring National Park from the east), was pretty intense. It was all gravel, and mostly not the smooth/graded sort. Poor Hestia managed quite well, though we got pretty nervous when we realized that there were 4 or 5 instances where we had to "ford" across a stream, meaning basically that we just had to drive through it. I've never felt more like I was on the Oregon Trail! Kara says: I was driving, and it was actually pretty fun. We got a lot of dust in the car, though!
Rumors of our demise have been greatly exaggerated! Which is to say, sorry for the radio silence. We're plugging and chugging along, earnin' those Lord Rutherford of Nelsons (so named for Ernest Rutherford, who is the "Father of the Atom" and who appears on the New Zealand hundred dollar note.) Kara and I have been in Wanaka for about a month now, and so far we've only had two days off of work! Which isn't too bad, as each day is only around 4 or 5 hours, but it doesn't leave us a lot of adventure-time, which doesn't leave us a ton to update about. Kara says: Though, I am watching a lot of Adventure Time, oh my glob.
