It's been a busy five days (!!) since leaving Wanaka! We mentioned in our last update that we'd spent the past few days in Queenstown and Paradise. Queenstown is a great city, and is definitely the adventure capital of New Zealand. I think it is a particularly awesome city if you have a lot of money to burn, which we don't, and so we didn't get much adventure tourism in. HOWEVER, we did stay at one of our favorite hostels in New Zealand: The Last Resort.

We've left Wanaka! Our last few days there were very nice. I revisited all my favorite places (Black Peak Gelato! Happy hour at Gin and Raspberry, the amazing and classy bar!) Kara and Jordan left a couple days early to have a really amazing trip through the Catlins, and I had a pretty fun last few days at work. It's funny, what with how many difficulties I had at the beginning, but I was very sad to leave. And just when I was finally feeling confident and getting know know and understand everyone. It's strange how people can pass in and out of your life like that.
We've spent the past day in Queenstown, enjoying the city and scenery. Most importantly, we've been celebrating Kara's birthday! HAPPY 28TH TO KARA!! We spent the day relaxing, eating good food, and taking a trip to Paradise. (Pictures to come.) Starting early tomorrow, Kara and Jordan and I will start the Routeburn track. It's one of the nine Great Walks in New Zealand, and it's rated highly amongst the most scenic tracks in the world. We'll be without internet for the next three days while we're on the trail. Once we finish we'll be exploring Milford Sound, and we'll have limited internet there for another three days. You may not hear from us for a bit, but once we're back into civilization you can expect updates to be much more frequent now that we're traveling again! Miss you all! |
